Security incident affecting Suffolk CPD Online (www.suffolkcpd.co.uk) and Suffolk Learning (www.suffolklearning.co.uk) websites
The above websites, which may be used by your organisation and staff, are hosted by a third party supplier, WebBased Ltd. WebBased were made aware last Friday (02 July 2021) that their systems had become involved in the ransomware attack on US company Kaseya, which supplies security software for website companies.
WebBased immediately shut down their servers to protect their network and systems, with the result that the CPD Online and Suffolk Learning sites were unavailable over the weekend.
The Suffolk CPD and Suffolk Learning websites are now operational again and contains data up to and including the last backup, which was taken on Thursday 01 July 2021. Although WebBased currently believe that no data has been stolen as part of the attack, we are awaiting definitive confirmation of this.
We recommend that users take the following three precautions to keep you and your data safe.
1. Change your local password to the Suffolk CPD website (www.suffolkcpd.co.uk). Never use that password again on any systems.
2. The email address that you have used to log in into the Suffolk CPD portal may have been discovered. Please be aware of any suspicious or phishing emails you may receive from now on and delete them without actioning.
3. Please be cautious of any suspicious or abnormal activity once you are logged into the Suffolk CPD Online website and report any concerns to LSTeams@Suffolk.gov.uk straightaway so that WebBased can investigate. This could include data missing before the attack happened.
