Child Exploitation – This occurs where an individual or group takes advantage of an imbalance of power to coerce, control, manipulate or deceive a child or young person under the age of 18. It is Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery facilitated by ‘the recruitment, movement, harbouring or receiving of children, women or men through the use of force, coercion, abuse of vulnerability, deception or other means for the purpose of exploitation’. We all have a responsibility to understand the challenges we face in addressing an ever evolving criminal business model and what to do if we have concerns.
To support this awareness raising, we have designed 4 lunchtime webinars that will cover:
• The National Picture and Horizon Scanning - with Guest Speaker, Tim Champion, County Lines and Gang Consultant former National County Lines Co-ordination Centre Lead - book here
• Suffolk Criminal Exploitation Work Programme - how we are working collaboratively across the Suffolk System to address, disrupt and safeguard victims of criminal exploitation - book here
• Innovation and Learning - The County Lines Pathfinder and our Suffolk Pathfinder focus - book here
• Safeguarding Adolescents - Multi-Agency Criminal Exploitation (MACE) Panels and Vulnerability Assessment Tracker (VAT) - book here
